Looking at a new event? Don’t go if…
As a business leader there are so many events you could attend. Here’s a few notes to help you decide if the event is for you. So don’t go if…
Please don’t go if
- You want to sit with the screen and mic off whilst you catch up on emails.
- You know Dan/Danni will be there and your only going because you really want to sell them your services.
- It will only take half an hour to get a great Instagram/Linked in photo and you can then go to something that is really important.
Go but do it differently
- You liked the last one but haven’t done anything about what that brilliant speaker said.
- You read the speakers book/blog or watched their podcast and kind off liked what they said but haven’t done anything because you are too busy.
- You loved last years but nothings changed because of business pressures.
What could you do differently?
- Remember what the speaker said and take an action based on what they said. Then go to the next one and feedback to the speaker the effect (good or bad) that action had on you.
- Take time to put into action what you liked. If that action works do more, if it doesn’t find a new writer/podcaster.
- Ask yourself why nothing has changed? How might you use this years to change the way you deal with business pressure? Then use this years to start the change.
Get the best out of it
- Clarify what you really want from the event.
- Does the event align with your needs?
- If it works what is the potential benefit to you and your business( in time used more productively and enhanced profitability). How does this compare to the time commitment and the cost of the event?
