{"id":7346,"date":"2017-07-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-07-26T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thomasjardineandco.co.uk\/waving-the-flag\/"},"modified":"2022-10-06T14:13:03","modified_gmt":"2022-10-06T13:13:03","slug":"waving-the-flag","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thomasjardineandco.co.uk\/waving-the-flag\/","title":{"rendered":"Waving the Flag&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomasjardineandco.co.uk\/our-thing\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1338 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thomasjardineandco.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Waving-the-Flag-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"339\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve been out and about recently talking to Family Businesses of all size and age \u2013 the common theme is that they are <strong>really focused<\/strong> and tend to <strong>quietly <\/strong>get on with <strong>doing really good stuff<\/strong>.\u00a0 If asked <strong>\u2018do you celebrate being a Family Business\u2019?<\/strong>\u00a0 The answer is usually NO \u2013 that\u2019s not what we do, it wouldn\u2019t seem appropriate to <strong>\u2018flag wave\u2019\u2019<\/strong>.\u00a0 Well let me tell you family businesses are essential to Local, Regional and National economies\u2026. let\u2019s have a look at some of those UK Family Business Facts and Stats\u2026\u2026. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifb.org.uk\/share\/publications\/\">courtesy of the IFB<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordeconomics.com\/\">Oxford Economics. <\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The vast majority of businesses in the UK are family run \u2026 In 2015 there were <strong>7 million in the UK<\/strong>, <strong>(UP 3% on 2014).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They make up <strong>87% of all private sector businesses<\/strong> in the <strong>UK<\/strong>. <strong>Small family businesses dominate<\/strong>, comprising more than <strong>97%<\/strong> of the total.<\/li>\n<li>Family businesses <strong>employed<\/strong> <strong>2 million people<\/strong> in 2015.<\/li>\n<li>They provide <strong>36 per cent of the UK\u2019s jobs<\/strong> and close to <strong>half of the jobs in the private sector. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Family businesses earned <strong>\u00a31.4 trillion<\/strong> in 2015, <strong>UP 6%<\/strong> from 2014.<\/li>\n<li>They generated a <strong>\u00a3460 billion<\/strong> to <strong>UK GDP<\/strong>.
